50th Anniversary Introducing, our 50^th Anniversary Education Heroes Contest

Anyone over the age of 18, or 14 or older as of September 2, 2025 with parental or legal guardian permission, and residing in Ontario can nominate an education hero. This includes students, parents, colleagues, and members of the community.

The contest is open to all current or former education workers in Ontario’s private or publicly funded elementary, secondary, and post-secondary schools. The person you nominate can be any educational worker: teacher, administrator, support staff, custodian, and more.

Yes, you can! Nominations are open to current and former education workers from an educational facility described above. If you know a retired education hero who has made a significant impact on their students, school, or community, you are encouraged to nominate them.

To submit a nomination, you’ll need to complete the online nomination form. You’ll be asked to select one of the six qualities of a hero and describe how your nominated education worker embodies that quality. You’ll also need to provide the nominee’s contact information, including their phone number, email address, educational institution, and position.
Important: Please notify your nominee before you make a nomination. There may be education workers who do not wish to participate.

The six qualities are core values we believe embody an Education Hero. When you fill out the nomination form, you will be asked to choose one of the following qualities and describe how your nominee exemplifies it:

• Goodness: They are honest and trustworthy and show deep compassion for others.
• Courage and bravery: They act with strength and confidence in the face of challenges.
• Selflessness: They prioritize the needs of their students and/or school community above their own.
• Perseverance: They demonstrate unwavering dedication and determination to overcome obstacles.
• Leadership: They inspire and empower others to achieve their full potential.
• Wisdom: They share their knowledge and guidance to help others grow and succeed.

The deadline to submit nominations is December 31, 2025, at 11:59PM EST. All online submissions must be completed by this time.

After the nomination period closes, a selection committee at Educators Financial Group will review all eligible submissions. The winners will be chosen based on how well the nomination exemplifies the selected quality of a hero, including specific and realistic examples, and the impact the nominee has had on their students, school, or community.

There is no limit to the number of nominations you can submit, however multiple entries for the same nominee will not increase the nominee’s chances of winning.
